With the HL-S5679W, Samsung didn't try to reinvent the wheel, they eliminated it altogether the color wheel, that is. Until now, every big-screen TV based on DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology required a color wheel and arc lamp to provide color and illumination. While that system creates crisp, clean high-definition images, a few viewers occasionally notice distracting flashes of color called rainbows. These rainbows are caused by the spinning color wheel. The HL-S5679W doesn't use a color wheel because Samsung found a better solution: LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). An array of 18 super-bright LEDs creates vivid, high-contrast images with an ultra-wide color range. The LEDs operate at much higher speed than a color wheel so that rainbow effects are greatly reduced or eliminated. Other LED benefits include cooler, quieter operation and quicker start-up.
Like other top-performing big-screen TVs, the 56" HL-S5679W has 1080p resolution. A 720p display has about one million pixels while 1080p has over two million, for pictures with extraordinary detail, texture and three-dimensionality. 1080p is also a pixel-perfect match for 1080i HDTV programs and the new high-definition HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc players. This model has plenty of inputs to handle your current and future audio/video gear. There are two HD-compatible component video inputs, and two HDMI inputs and for future-readiness, all accept signals up to 1080p. The standard PC input lets this beauty double as a big, hi-res computer monitor.

White Glove service is used for the delivery of high-end consumer products. The benefit of this service is that your merchandise is brought into your home, put into the room of your choice (within one floor up or down from the entrance), uncrated, plugged-in to ensure working order, and the packaging material is removed from your home. Should your residence be located in an extremely remote location, there may be an additional charge for delivery. Also note, White Glove delivery can require a couple extra business days vs. Front Door or Local Area Pick Up.
